Refund and Cancellation Policy

Effective date: 24 October 2026
Last updated: 24 October 2026

This Refund and Cancellation Policy explains when a course purchase from The Fund Accountant is non-refundable, when we will review a problem and how to contact us.

Important summary

Because access to digital course content may be provided immediately after purchase, payments are generally non-refundable once enrolment is completed or course access has been activated. Please review the course description, curriculum, access period and suitability carefully before purchasing.

We do not provide refunds, cancellations, exchanges, transfers or credits merely because a learner changes their mind.

This does not affect any consumer right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded.

1. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to paid digital courses sold by The Fund Accountant, including purchases completed through The Fund Accountant Academy or an authorised course, checkout or payment provider.

The Fund Accountant is the education business identified in our Terms of Use. A third-party academy or payment provider may process the transaction or provide course access, but this policy governs our refund position unless applicable law requires otherwise.

This policy should be read together with:

  • the relevant course description and syllabus;
  • the access period and course features shown before purchase;
  • our Terms of Use;
  • any checkout information shown before payment; and
  • any mandatory terms of the academy or payment provider.

If this policy conflicts with a consumer right that cannot legally be excluded, that mandatory right will apply.

2. Please review the course before purchasing

Before paying, please review the course page carefully, including:

  • the course description and syllabus;
  • the intended audience and recommended prior knowledge;
  • the learning format;
  • the course access period;
  • the language of instruction;
  • the included lessons, examples, assessments and downloads;
  • certificate or discussion-forum conditions, where applicable; and
  • any device, software or internet requirements.

If you need clarification before purchasing, contact us at info@thefundaccountant.com.

3. No change-of-mind refunds after purchase and access

Except where applicable law requires otherwise, we do not provide a refund, cancellation, exchange, transfer or credit once enrolment has been completed or course access has been activated because a learner:

  • changed their mind;
  • made an accidental purchase where access has already been activated;
  • no longer has enough time to study;
  • did not start, continue or complete the course;
  • did not use all available lessons, examples, assessments, downloads or support;
  • found the course easier or more difficult than expected;
  • already knew some of the material;
  • expected a topic, service or feature that was not included in the published course description;
  • did not meet the recommended prior-knowledge requirements;
  • experienced a technical problem caused solely by their own device, connection or unsupported setup while the course platform was functioning;
  • became ineligible for employer reimbursement;
  • purchased the course before a later discount or promotional offer;
  • did not obtain a particular examination, interview, employment, promotion, salary or professional outcome; or
  • was personally dissatisfied where the course was delivered substantially as described;
  • made a duplicate purchase and did not report it promptly (a duplicate payment is reviewed individually below); or
  • wants to transfer the purchase to another person or exchange it for a different course.

Course completion certificates record completion under the applicable course rules. They do not guarantee employment, professional competence, promotion or any other outcome.

4. Problems we will review

We will review a request where the learner reports that:

  • the same transaction was charged more than once;
  • payment was taken but access was not provided after reasonable support investigation;
  • a material technical failure within our or the academy platform’s control could not be resolved;
  • access to the wrong course was provided because of an error attributable to us;
  • we permanently withdrew the purchased course during the stated access period and could not provide a reasonable alternative;
  • the supplied digital content was materially defective or materially inconsistent with its published description and we were unable to correct the problem within a reasonable period; or
  • a refund, price reduction or other remedy is required by applicable law; or
  • other exceptional circumstances have been expressly accepted by us in writing.

Submitting a request does not automatically guarantee a cash refund.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, the appropriate solution may be:

  • correcting or restoring access;
  • correcting the digital content;
  • providing replacement access;
  • extending access where appropriate;
  • reversing a duplicate charge;
  • providing another remedy agreed with the learner; or
  • issuing a full or partial refund where required or appropriate.

Where applicable law gives the learner the right to choose a particular remedy, that right will not be restricted by this policy.

5. How to submit a request

Send your request to info@thefundaccountant.com with the subject line:

Refund review – [course name]

Include:

  • your full name;
  • the email address used for the purchase;
  • the course name;
  • the order or transaction reference;
  • the purchase date;
  • a clear explanation of the problem; and
  • relevant screenshots, payment records or error messages, where available.

Please send the request promptly after becoming aware of the problem.

We may ask for reasonable additional information needed to verify the transaction and investigate the issue. Do not send full card details, passwords, card-security codes or one-time passwords.

6. How we review a request

When reviewing a request, we may check:

  • payment and order records;
  • the date on which course access was activated;
  • account access and course-usage records;
  • previous support correspondence;
  • relevant technical records;
  • the published course description that applied at the time of purchase; and
  • information provided by the academy or payment provider.

Where legally applicable, we acknowledge complaints and refund requests within 48 hours and provide a copy or reference of the complaint as recorded where required. We review the request and provide a response within one month or the legally applicable period. We will explain any information needed to investigate the issue.

7. Approved refunds

If a refund is approved:

  • it will return through the original payment method where operationally possible;
  • the time taken to appear in the learner’s account may depend on the payment provider, bank or card issuer;
  • differences caused by exchange rates, bank charges or payment-provider charges outside our control may not be recoverable unless applicable law requires otherwise; and
  • we will confirm the refund or other approved remedy using the learner’s registered email address.

We will never ask a learner to disclose a card PIN, one-time password or complete card-security code in order to process a refund.

8. Course access following a refund

If a full refund is issued, access to the relevant course and its associated learner benefits may be withdrawn.

This may include access to:

  • lessons;
  • assessments;
  • downloadable course materials;
  • discussion forums;
  • completion certificates; and
  • related course support.

A learner must not continue to use, copy, share or distribute course materials after the related licence has ended.

Where a partial refund or another remedy is provided, any continuing access conditions will be explained as part of that resolution.

9. Discounts and promotional prices

A later discount, coupon, promotional campaign or price reduction does not create a right to a refund or retrospective price adjustment for an earlier purchase.

Purchases made using a discount or promotional code remain subject to this policy.

Nothing in this section limits a remedy that applicable law requires.

10. Transfers and exchanges

Course purchases and learner accounts are personal to the registered learner.

Except where we expressly agree otherwise or applicable law requires it, a purchase cannot be:

  • transferred to another person;
  • resold;
  • shared between learners; or
  • exchanged for another course.

11. Payment disputes and chargebacks

If you believe a payment is incorrect, contact us first at info@thefundaccountant.com so that we can investigate.

Starting a payment dispute or chargeback does not create additional refund rights. We may provide relevant transaction, access and communication records to the payment provider when responding to a dispute.

We may temporarily restrict the affected course access while a payment dispute is being investigated, where reasonably necessary and legally permitted.

Nothing in this section prevents a learner from exercising a right available through their bank, card issuer, payment provider or applicable law.

12. Statutory cancellation and consumer rights

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or replaces a consumer right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded.

Some countries provide cancellation or withdrawal rights for distance contracts or digital content.

Where the law requires it, a learner may be asked during checkout to:

  • expressly request immediate access to the digital course before the end of a statutory cancellation period; and
  • acknowledge that the applicable cancellation right may be lost once the supply of digital content begins.

A general acceptance of website terms will not be treated as a substitute where the law requires separate express consent or acknowledgement.

If the legally required consent or acknowledgement was not properly obtained, any applicable statutory right may continue despite the general no-change-of-mind position described in this policy.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our courses, technology, academy provider, payment arrangements, business practices or legal obligations.

The effective date and last-updated date will be shown at the top of the policy.

Unless applicable law requires otherwise, the policy presented or accepted at the time of purchase will normally govern that purchase. A later change will not retrospectively remove a right that already arose.
